After being tortured by his own mother, Esther Mikaelson, Elijah is forced to come to terms with his past that his mother forced him to forget about. The fact that he had killed his first true love. Tatia Petrova. He didn't believe it at first but with each passing day, his visions grow more intense. Because of this, he was contemplating taking his mother's offer for him to become a human again so he could start a family of his own and finally find the happiness that he desired. What he didn't know was that his mother had other plans for him. She brought Tatia back to life in order to convince him to take the deal so they have the life that was ripped away from them when Elijah was still a human.
Niklaus is trying desperately to help his older brother but there is little that he could do at this time and there was so much going on in his life. Rebekah was on the run with his daughter Hope because Esther had found them. Hayley was becoming a murderous hybrid and blames all of the witches for the fact that her baby was taken away from her. Elijah and Klaus also have Finn and Kol in their custody. If they were to help them, then they would have the opportunity to go back into their real bodies and become original vampires again.
In hopes to get Klaus interested in taking her offer, Esther brought back his biological father Ansel as well as his children but it is unclear of what their true motives are. Will they stand with Esther or will Klaus be able to convince them to stand by his side in this war? Only time will tell.
The residents of Mystic Falls believed that things would go back to normal and that they would be safe after the Mikaelson family left to go to New Orleans but they couldn't have been more wrong about that. A powerful warlock named Alexander Riley had been sticking to the shadows and watching events unfold up until the originals left town. He created a powerful spell that would bring certain residents to New Orleans in order for his true plan to unfold. Katherine Pierce and Alexander have been working together for a bit but Alex would eventually betray her by sending her to New Orleans as well to witness his master plan. The Mikaelson family and the Mystic Falls gang will have to work together in order to stop Alexander from his ultimate goal, destruction of each species besides his own.
